The herd is a picture of sanctuary and solidarity, of the proactive presence that founder Melody witnessed in the wake of her husband’s passing. It moved towards her grief and carried the complex burdens of young widowhood and single-parenting with her, and at times, for her.
HopeHerd is her vision to share the experience of communal healing she and her two boys found in their bereavement. For widowed families, especially those with children, this has looked like meals made and shared, specialised grief and play therapy, or simply being held in steady, loving presence. In this herd, children and their mothers can find their footing again, strength and security for the days ahead, and a hope for the future, right where they are.
